Training Needs Option in Self Appraisal*

Following information regarding Self Appraisal is received from Head Office for compliance by all employees.

In a rapid changing business environment, the employees’ skills and knowledge become obsolete and gradually a GAP between existing and expected level of knowledge widens which needs to be reduced or eliminated with regular learning and development interventions. Hence continuous learning is the key for all the employees of the Society to remain relevant for tomorrow. Employees are, therefore, encouraged to think strategically to take responsibility for their own learning needs and in this direction, the self-assessment is the first step towards creating an eco-system of high performance.

From this year, we are giving opportunity to all the employees to decide about their learning needs based on their current and future roles and responsibilities. In the new Performance Appraisal System for 2016-2017 launched by the Corporate HR Department yesterday, there is a provision for indicating training and development needs of employees online under
Point No. 5 of Self Appraisal. The individual employee is expected to fill up TWO training needs from out of the topics exhibited in the drop-down menu.

The activity of identification of training need will happen at two levels only i.e. the Appraisee and his Reporting Officer (Appraiser). It is, however, advisable that the Appraisee and his Reporting Officer may internally discuss the training need. While the HRD/Training Deptt. will act as an enabler, the onus for fulfilling the training need will rest on the initiative of individual employee as well as his reporting officer.

The online training need can be filled up in the following two ways in the Appraisal System:

The list of all the training topics given in the drop-down menu is attached for identification of appropriate training topic in the online appraisal system.

In case any employee do not find training topic matching to his requirement in the drop-down menu, he may write to us on email ID hrd@iffco.in indicating the name of topic so that the same can be included in the Master List/Drop-down Menu maintained by HRD Deptt.

Last but not least, the objective of the training and development will be achieved only when the identified learning needs of the employees are aligned with the organisational purpose and also when the acquired learning is applied and practised on the job in order to build and sustain the Society's competitive advantage.
