Use of Licensed softwares by all Users*

We have recd. this msg. from HO,Delhi for use of Licensed softwares.

QUOTE:

" We have procured adequate number of Microsoft licenses for running MS Office in the PCs of all Offices/Units of IFFCO. The management of all types of license is done centrally at Corporate Office level. As per License Policy, we are allowed to run softwares only on fixed number of PCs i.e. we can run only that number of softwares for which licenses have been obtained.

These licenses are very costly approx. Rs 20,000/- per PC and recurring cost of 29% per annum. Since huge amount is involved in procurement of these licenses, it becomes imperative for us to use discreetly and judiciously these softwares as per official requirement. The licensed softwares should be loaded into the machines of only those Users, who are reqularly required to work in these softwares.

Since the procurement cost of licence is too high, we had procured optimum number of licenses to run these softwares keeping in mind the number of genuine users and concurrent users.

Microsoft also conducts regular audit in the offices and personally see that their softwares are running/loaded only on those number of machines for which licenses have been obtained. In case any deviation is found, the License providers may sue IFFCO for breach of agreement.

During the course of recent Audit by Microsoft, It has come to our knowledge that few unauthorised softwares are loaded in individual's PCs for which IFFCO is not having any licence. This is highly objectionable. All Users are hereby advised to refrain from loading pirated/un-licensed softwares. In case, any such instance comes to the knowledge of System Deptt., the individual concerned will be held responsible to pay the damages, if any. System Deptt. is also in the process of identifiying such users for corrective action.

All System Incharges should also ensure that no pirated software is loaded on the PCs and no other software except the licensed ones are used by all the Users.

All Users are, therefore, requested to cooperate with Systems Department so that un-necessary charges are not levied upon IFFCO by the License Providing Agency for any default on this account.
