Data Security Risks

When there are benefit of Technology, there are number of threats and security risks associated with it. Though many of such risks may be addressed by deploying tools most of the time, there are risks where action by each user is required. Though most of the time, we think of external threats, it is internal threats which are more severe and frequent. To minimize these risks, we have initiated a programme to make the employees aware of IT security, risks, threats, safeguards and steps to be taken. As a part of this programme, system department will send e-mail to all users on the Information security from time to time. Users are requested to read the mails carefully, learn and follow the advice to minimize IT risks in the office as well as well in their personal life. Some of the security risks are:

1. Stored information in the computer/laptop may be stolen by accessing computer remotely or locally in user's absence.
2. Confidential information of the organisation stored on servers may be stolen by employee / external person.
2. Information transmitted through email may be leaked by accessing user's mail box.
3. By attack of virus on user's machine, information may be stolen, destroyed, changed or may damage desktop permanently.
4. Hacking ones user name and password may give access of important applications and data on the intranet such as HRMS, e-mail, MIS etc.
5. While browsing internet, doing any online financial transactions, you may be trapped online and your personal information such as user name password, credit card or bank details may be misused.
